Visiting Artist Series: John Byrd

Each semester, Clay Club hosts a visiting ceramic artist for a two day workshop.  We try to alternate between a sculptor and potter.  Each workshop is free and open to the public and we strongly encourage visitors to attend.

Last week, Clay Club hosted a workshop with visiting artist John Byrd.  Spanning Monday and Tuesday, the workshop was a great opportunity to learn new techniques, ask questions, and enjoy great discussions about working as a clay artist.  John Byrd demonstrated his building techniques using porcelain on an armature with the aid of templates and reference photos.  Monday night, he presented a lecture on the development of his work and Tuesday morning, Clay Club members had the chance to gain insight to their work during 15 minute critiques with the artist.  Here are some images from the workshop:

Thanks for reading!  Just a reminder that in April, we will be hosting Linda Arbuckle for a two-day visiting artist workshop as well.
